Spring 2016

In "Rotten Apples," a black and white photograph of the titular apples peek through windows cut into a textured cloth. Thick strokes of oil paint snake downwards, bringing to mind the worm-eaten apple...or a snake. The entire composition is filled with multi-layered movement. The apples and cloth separate and meld together, while the muted paint and various textures pull shapes and shadows to the forefront.
